A national, large-scale conference and a popular beer and beef festival have both been approved for Council funding to deliver events in 2018.
The Red Earth Arts Precinct will host its first major conference shortly after its doors open for the first time mid-way through next year, attracting 400 industry professionals to the City.
Brew and the Moo, a popular locally organised event, has also been endorsed for funding for 2018, 2019 and 2020 events.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said both events have been funded under the City of Karratha’s Major Event Sponsorship and Attraction Program.
“The City has been working hard to elevate the calibre and standard of events delivered in Karratha by supporting the growth of local events but also attracting new major events to our region,” Cr Long said.
“This conference is a well-established industry leading event of scale and magnitude that has not yet been experienced in Karratha which will deliver considerable social and economic benefits to the community.”
Following the success of Brew and the Moo in 2016, Council has endorsed a funding proposal which will see the event expand over three years.
“It is vitally important that we continue to support the growth and development of our local events scene and build capacity to deliver high calibre events in our region,” Cr Long said.
“Locally run events like Brew and the Moo are hugely popular with the local community while showcasing the breadth of lifestyle options available for residents and raising the profile of our region.”
