A number of activities designed to support local businesses have gained funding through the City of Karratha’s Business Development Support Grants.
The Business Centre Pilbara has been funded to provide a Pilbara Women’s Network series of events as well as an event to educate local businesses about tourism development.
The Karratha and Districts Chamber of Commerce annual Business and Community Directory has also been supported through the program.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said Council was focused on improving business capacity in the region by funding these activities.
“We have a lot of great new small businesses in the City and organisations like the Business Centre and the KDCCI are providing great services that help these businesses achieve their potential,” Cr Long said.
“Having networking opportunities and educational seminars is really helpful to people looking to expand or improve their businesses locally,” he said.
“Council wants to see a thriving small business sector in the City and these kinds of programs help to build capacity and support our business people.”
The Business Development Support Grant Scheme was established this financial year and is open to organisations providing services and programs to the local business sector.
The fund of $100,000 has been fully expended in this financial year. Council will review the success of the programs funded before deciding on the continuation of the scheme next financial year.
