An orchestra, street party, ABBA tribute band and circus make up just some of the eight major events set to descend on the City of Karratha for Red Earth Arts Festival.
Announced today, REAF 2016 will span ten days in September with a diverse program of events to accommodate all ages.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the ten day festival was a key event for the City and would further enhance arts and culture experiences in the region.
“REAF is now in its seventh year and we are proud to bring our community another fantastic line-up of artistic entertainment,” Cr Long said.
“Being able to provide such a high calibre of events in the city means more of our community can enjoy arts and culture right at their doorstep and provides further incentive for visitors to the region to stay with us longer and enjoy more of what we have to offer,” he said.
“I am especially looking forward to the number of free events offered in this year’s programming including a very special contemporary orchestral performance.”
Rio Tinto General Manager Rail Operations Zara Fisher said it was great to see this event continuing each year, with different activities catering to a wide range of people.
“We are proud to support REAF through our long-term partnership with the City of Karratha,” Ms Fisher said.
“The whole community looks forward to REAF and what engaging and interesting acts and performances it will bring to the community every year. I am looking forward to heading along with my family and friends.”
Events that make up the REAF 2016 program include the annual launch street party, a morning with Hoot and Hootabelle, an ABBA tribute show, Lunar Circus, comedy and hypnotist performances.
A free MotoX demonstration, performance by the Perth Symphony Orchestra and closing Recovery event round out the line-up.
