Additional seating, shade, bin banks and parking will be installed at Karratha Back Beach thanks to project savings found as part of the boat ramp upgrade works.
It is likely the project, which includes the replacement of the existing jetty, boat ramps and establishment of a formal parking area, will come in under budget enabling works identified for future stages to be brought forward.
City of Karratha Deputy Mayor John Lally said the works would further enhance the area for boaters and the local community.
“This is a great example of how prudent project and financial management has been able to deliver better results for the community,” Cr Lally said.
“We know this area is popular with the local community so it’s fantastic that we are able to bring forward additional improvement works and provide new seating, shade, bins and overflow parking.”
The Karratha Back Beach Boat Ramp upgrade project is partly funded by the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme.
The City continues to make improvements to popular foreshore areas across the City with enhancements currently underway in Dampier, Karratha and Point Samson and planning taking place for new projects in Wickham and Hearsons Cove.
