Two services will be held at dawn on Monday 25 April to commemorate ANZAC Day in the City of Karratha.
Roebourne will host a service at the Cenotaph on Roe Street while Karratha will remember the ANZACs on the greens of the Karratha Golf Course.
These will be followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Roebourne Fire Station and Karratha Golf Course, respectively.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the ANZAC services were always well attended and a testament to community spirit in the City.
“ANZAC Day is recognised right throughout our community and the services held in the City each year are always well attended,” Cr Long said.
“Last year over 4000 residents turned out to honour our diggers across the City and we expect the community to continue this show of incredible respect on ANZAC Day this year,” he said.
“This is a chance to once again gather as a strong community and remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom.”
“It also provides an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the Pilbara’s contribution to the Defence forces, from those that fought over 100 years ago right through to those serving in the region today.”
