Wickham Community Hub one step closer

A new community hub in Wickham is one step closer to reality with Council approving schematic designs at January’s ordinary Council meeting.

The Wickham Community Hub will now move into final planning and design stages while discussions continue with potential funding partners.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the approved community hub design will provide Wickham with new facilities and spaces that meet the current and future needs of residents.

“We have been working closely with the Wickham Community Hub Reference group to ensure this facility will deliver a number of essential facilities to the Wickham area,” Cr Long said.

“Once complete, this new Wickham Community Hub will provide residents with a recreation space specific to the needs of the local community and we are really looking forward to bringing this to life,” he said.

“Currently we are still in discussions with potential funding partners for this project and the results of these will be released as they come to hand.”

The Wickham Community Hub project is part of the partnership between the City of Karratha and Rio Tinto which will deliver significant community infrastructure improvements in Wickham, Dampier and Karratha as well as a range of new and improved cultural events and community services and programs.
