A new childcare service is preparing to launch in Dampier following Pilbara Preparatory’s decision to cease their operations on February 12.
The Montessori Early Years Learning and Care Centre, to be run by Jennifer Fox, is currently seeking approvals to ensure Dampier remains serviced by a childcare provider.
The centre is planning to offer full day care, before and after school care as well as vacation care from 6am to 6pm.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said it was great to see plans for a new service advancing so quickly following the abrupt decision of Pilbara Preparatory to pull out of Dampier.
“There are a lot of young families living and working in Dampier who rely on childcare services and while it will take some time to get the new service up and running, we anticipate the community will only be without childcare for a couple of weeks,” Cr Long said.
“Jennifer Fox is well known to the Dampier community, having been the Director of a previous childcare centre, and many parents will be looking forward to her new business commencing operations,” he said.
“The new centre will commence operations at 11 Roe Crescent and will transition into the new Dampier Community Hub when this facility opens.”
The City has been advised that current services will cease onFebruary 12 with the new facility to open as soon as government accreditations and approvals are received.
Council officers are working with the provider and the Department of Communities to expedite the accreditation processes, and hope to have the service up and running in March.
The proposed services and prices at the Dampier Montessori Early Years Learning and Care Centre will be:
- Before School Care $30
- After School Care $45
- Full Day Care $110
- Vacation Care $110
