Kununurra based aviation company Aviair has announced its arrival to Karratha with the expansion of its fixed wing and rotary wing charter services.
The company will operate charter services to and from Karratha Airport however has flagged the potential of also providing scenic helicopter flights and low capacity public services where there is community demand for such services.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long welcomed the arrival of a new Aviair and looked forward to seeing the company expand its presence and services in the region.
“Council has worked very hard to provide an environment that supports business, not just at Karratha Airport but across the City,” Cr Long said.
“We are very pleased to see a company focussed on developing aviation and tourism within the City of Karratha and Pilbara region.”
As part of the expansion, Aviair has acquired Karratha Flying Services including its terminal and fleet of two B200 aircraft.
Aviair (formerly known as Slingair) is a Kununurra based aviation company that operates helicopters and Cessna 208 (C208) aircraft on charters and regular public transport flights. The C208 is a single engine turboprop short haul regional airliner capable of seating 13 people. The aircraft has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 3970kg.
The B200 is a twin engine turboprop short to medium haul regional airliner and corporate transport capable of seating 13 people. The aircraft has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 5670kg.
